The eagerly awaited iXtreme 1.5 firmware is now available! This is the first time any hacked firmware has been made available for the new Liteon drives, which should also be much easier to read from/write to with the new utilites that are available. Everyone should update to iXtreme 1.5 if possible, regardless of your current drive model or firmware version, for added features and security on Xbox Live. Please read the information that comes with iXtreme 1.5 before you proceed, even if you're familiar with the previous versions of firmware, because a lot has changed with this update!
PLEASE NOTE - Sadly iXtreme 1.5 isn't available for Hitachi drives at the moment, the team is still working on it and estimate it will be ready in early January. Rest assured I will post it here as soon as it is available!
Stay tuned for further updates on the utilities as well - JungleFlasher looks like an excellent tool, but it's still in very early development so there will probably be a new version of that pretty soon once the team have had some user feedback. I'll tidy the thread up, add some more instructions and answer questions after Christmas, once everything has settled down a bit and when I've had chance to work with the new stuff myself.

This is for anyone who wants to mod their Xbox 360 by flashing its DVD drive with hacked firmware, or anyone who has already had this done but wants to keep up to date with the releases of hacked firmware to take advantage of new features as they develop and minimise the chances of being banned from Xbox Live.
First of all, general tutorials on flashing - what you need, how to do it, etc. If you're new to this, read these thoroughly before you do anything else.

Getting a Hitachi 79 drive into ModeB isn't enough - you still won't be able to read the firmware until you unlock the drive. You used to need to install a modchip for this, but now there's a software solution.
